Material Selection
Consultation
Process/Kana Inc. specializes in the storage of aggresive chemicals. Corrosive applications require the need for materials that can tolerate chemical attack and are suitable for construction. Applications often require the need to incorporate a variety of materials that include the tank, fittings, bolts, gaskets and accessories. Listed below is a selection of materials commonly used in the maufacturing of tanks and custom fabrication for the storage or handling of aggresive chemicals.
Common Materials
- HDXLPE = HIGH DENSITY CROSSLINKED POLYETHYLENE
Impact Resilient, Environmental Stress Cracking Resistance, Lower Notch Sensitivity, Long Term Hydrostatic Strength, Maximum Corrosion Protection, Maintenance Free, Seamless One-Piece Design
- HDPE = HIGH DENSITY POLYETHYLENE
Cost Effective Liquid storage solution, Corrosion Protection, Acceptable Resin for Non-Critical Applications, Maintenance Free, Seamless One-Piece Design
- FRP = Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic
Wide Range of Chemical Compatability Due to Selection of Resins Available, Often Used for Custom Tanks and Fabricated Items.
- Polypropylene
A Ridgid Plastic, High Temperature Limit, Good Chemical Resistance, High Resistance to Stress Cracking, Not Recommended for Sub-Freezing Tempatures or Where High Impact Strength is Needed, Often Used in Custom Fabricated Applications
- OR 1000 Liner = Oxidation Resistant Liner
The OR-1000 System is an Engineered Anti-Oxidant Inner Surface to Be Used With a High Density Crosslinked Polyethylene Tank to Improve the Storage of Oxidating Chemicals such as Sodium Hypochlorite, Sulfuric Acid and Hydrochloric Acid.
- PVC = Polyvinyl Chloride
Thermoplastic Polymer, Cost effective, Durable and Corrosion Resistant to a Wide Range of Chemicals. Used as a Material of Construction for Fittings, Accessories, Flexible Liners and Custom Fabrication.
- CPVC = Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride
Thermoplastic - Material is Similar to PVC and Used for Many of The Same Functions, But has a Higher Resistance to Heat.
- Metal & Alloys
A selection of metals can be used for bolts, fittings and accessories depending on the chemical service including SS, Titanium, C-276 & Alloy 400
